Day 1  :  First day of hike from Machame Gate to Machame Camp

The adventure begins as we drive to Kilimanjaro National Park's Machame Gate, a short 45-minute journey from the town of Moshi. Excitement builds as we gather at the gate, ready to embark on this epic journey. The air is filled with anticipation and the natural beauty of the surroundings, as we set off on foot. The winding trail leads us deeper into the heart of the Montane Forest. Towering trees form a lush canopy above, filtering the sunlight and providing us with a refreshing shade. The forest floor is covered with a rich layer of vegetation, alive with the sounds of exotic birds and wildlife. As we steadily ascend, the elevation gradually increases from 1830m to 3050m. The hike is a moderate challenge, but the picturesque landscape keeps our spirits high. The trail leads us across wooden bridges over babbling streams and we occasionally catch glimpses of unique flora and fauna. After about 5 to 6 hours of hiking, we finally reach Machame Camp, our resting place for the night.

Day 2  :  Hike from Machame Camp to Shira Camp

As the sun rises over the Machame Camp, we prepare for another day of exploration and conquest. Today's hike takes us from Machame Camp to Shira Camp. The path meanders through a valley, and we ascend along a steep, rocky ridge that challenges our endurance and provides stunning views of the surrounding moorland. The elevation rises from 3050m/9950ft to 3850m/12600ft as we traverse a distance of approximately 5km/3miles. The Moorland habitat presents a different kind of beauty, with vast expanses of heather and unique alpine vegetation. The weather becomes cooler, and we might spot some wildlife adapted to this harsh environment. After a 4 to 5-hour hike, we arrive at Shira Camp. Perched at a higher altitude, the campsite offers a spectacular panorama of the landscape below. We rest and replenish our energy, as the guides provide valuable insights into the journey ahead. Each step brings us closer to the realization of our dream - standing on the roof of Africa.

Day 3  :  From Shira Cave hike up to Barranco Camp

Today's hike takes us from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp, with some fascinating stops along the way. The route leads us to the Lava Tower, standing at an impressive elevation of 4650m. The Lava Tower offers breathtaking views of Kibo, the highest peak of Kilimanjaro, and its surrounding glaciers. As we traverse the rocky terrain and descend to Barranco Camp, the altitude gradually increases from 3850m to 4000m. This altitude gain followed by a descent helps our bodies acclimatize, an essential aspect of hiking Mount Kilimanjaro safely. The Semi-Desert habitat welcomes us with unique landscapes, where sturdy plants and resilient shrubs brave the harsh conditions. The Barranco Camp greets us with its iconic Barranco Wall, a challenging yet thrilling hike that adds a touch of adventure to our journey. After hiking for about 5 to 6 hours, we reach the Barranco Camp, where we spend the night.

Day 4  :  Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp, 4th day of 6 days kilimanjaro hiking

As we bid farewell to Barranco Camp, we embark on a day filled with exciting challenges and remarkable landscapes. Today's hike takes us through the Karanga Valley, where we encounter unique plant life and geological formations. The valley serves as a vital link between the Southern Circuit and the Mweka Trail, marking our progress towards the ultimate goal. Ascending the Barranco Wall requires determination and teamwork, as we navigate the rocky terrain with the help of guides and supporting ropes. The feeling of accomplishment after conquering this obstacle is indescribable. We then continue our journey to Barafu Camp, where we'll be camping at an elevation of 4700m. The Alpine Desert habitat unfolds before us, with its stark beauty and sparse vegetation. The trail challenges us physically and mentally, but the sense of accomplishment grows with every step. After a demanding 6 to 8-hour hike, we reach Barafu Camp.

Day 5  :  Summit Day! From Barafu camp to Mweka Camp

Summit day dawns early, and our hearts pound with excitement and a touch of nervousness. Our journey takes us between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, where the landscape is dominated by stone scree and ice. The ascent to Stella Point, situated on the crater rim, presents its own set of challenges. The high altitude and thin air demand steady progress, with short breaks to catch our breath and appreciate the breathtaking sunrise over the vast African plains below. As we reach Stella Point, a sense of achievement washes over us. But the journey is not over yet. With renewed determination, we continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro, standing proudly at 5895m above sea level. The descent begins, leading us back to Barafu Camp, where we rest briefly before continuing to Mweka Camp. After a challenging 5 to 7-hour ascent and a 5 to 6-hour descent, we arrive at Mweka Camp.

Day 6  :  Descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

On the final day of our adventure, we descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate. The descent takes us through lush forests, and the air becomes progressively warmer as we return to lower altitudes. As we hike down the trail, a mix of emotions floods our hearts. The memories of the journey, the friendships forged, and the stunning landscapes encountered during this expedition will stay with us forever. At Mweka Gate, we receive our well-deserved summit certificates, a testament to our determination and perseverance.
